In the early 1980s, WWL was a “trucker station” during the evening and overnight hours. The big 50,000 watt clear channel signal allowed them to be heard across several states. I had no problem hearing them from my location in Apple Valley, MN. This quick station ID was captured during a routine dial scan.
Equipment used for this aircheck was a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver, horizontal longwire antenna, Technics stereo cassette deck, and Scotch Dynarange tape.
