71 WHB is one of those legendary Top 40 AM stations that survived well into the 198os. The duo of J.R. and Chuck held down afternoons during this time. I was outside of WHB’s daytime coverage (just barely), but could hear them pretty well after the sun went down. Shortly after this aircheck was recorded, WHB finally succumbed to FM competitors ZZ99 and (especially) Q104, and dropped out of the Top 40/CHR battle.
I recorded this from Apple Valley, MN, using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver and longwire antenna. The recording was made with a Technics stereo cassette deck and TDK D90 tape.
