Basically, there were 3 important radio stations in Salina during the early 1980s: KFRM-550 had the farmers, KSKG-99.9 (“99KG”) had all the kids, and KSAL had everyone else. Full service radio with a solid signal 24/7. During the nighttime hours, they employed a “four leaf clover” directional pattern. One of the lobes pointed NE, so I could hear them extremely well at my location.
This brief aircheck was recorded from Apple Valley, MN, using a Pioneer SX-3900 receiver and horizontal longwire antenna. A Technics stereo cassette deck and Scotch Dynarange tape were used to make the recording.
