There are 5 times each year to buy Tostitos, Doritos, and potato chips: the week before Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/New Year’s. Many stores will sell chips at or below cost during these times. The purpose is to get you into the store where they hope you will then purchase all your other holiday groceries and items from them.
It used to be pretty common to find chips on sale for $2 per bag during the pre-holiday sales. But food price inflation has taken it’s toll and prices have risen substantially over the past few years. This is also why the bags are smaller and/or weigh less than they used to. Don’t even get me started on that soapbox! Fortunately, Cub Foods comes to the rescue for Memorial Day Weekend! Cub is offering standard size bags of Tostitos Tortilla Chips or Lay’s Potato Chips, 3 bags for $6.
According to the newspaper insert, there is a limit of 3 and you must buy 3. A coupon is required which you will find on the front page of the May 19 sale ad. If you don’t have the ad, copies are available at most Cubs. You’re not likely to find a cheaper price, so stock up now and make sure you have enough to last until the 4th of July!
Offer valid through May 25, 2013 at participating locations. Most Cub Foods stores will be open regular hours on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27) and open regular hours on Independence Day (Thursday, July 4.)
