Georgia Energy Star Appliance Sales Tax Holiday

Don’t miss this year’s Georgia Sales Tax Holiday when shopping for energy-efficient products and appliances. The Energy Star and WaterSense tax free weekend takes place for 3 days only:

Friday, September 30
Saturday, October 1
Sunday, October 2

On these dates, you can purchase these items free of Georgia state sales tax:

Energy-efficient and water-efficient products purchased for noncommercial use and priced at $1,500 or less per item. Tax exemption does not apply to purchases for trade, business, resale, or commercial use. Qualifying Energy Star items include air conditioners, ceiling fans, clothes washers, dehumidifiers, doors, fluorescent light bulbs, programmable thermostats, refrigerators, and windows. Qualifying WaterSense items include bathroom sink faucets, faucet accessories (aerators, etc.), high efficiency toilets/urinals, showerheads, and weather/sensor-based irrigation controllers.

Many stores will be having special sales on eligible items in conjunction with the sales tax holiday. The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sears, Best Buy, Sam’s Club, Costco, and hhgregg are all good bets for tax free weekend sales and special appliance tax holiday promotions.

Be sure to take advantage of the Georgia Sales Tax Holiday weekend for Energy Star and WaterSense appliances: September 30 and October 1-2, 2016.

Alabama Hurricane Sales Tax Holiday

Don’t miss this year’s Alabama Sales Tax Holiday on severe weather preparedness items. This tax free weekend takes place over 3 days:

Friday, February 26
Saturday, February 27
Sunday, February 28

On these dates, you can purchase these items free of Alabama state sales tax:

– Severe weather preparedness supplies priced at $60 or less per individual item.

– Generators priced at $1,000 or less.

The Alabama Sales Tax Holiday only exempts the STATE sales tax from your purchases. Counties and cities may or may not exempt their local option sales taxes.

Virginia Energy Star Appliance Sales Tax Holiday

Don’t miss this year’s Virginia Sales Tax Holiday when shopping for energy-efficient products and appliances. This tax free weekend takes place for 4 days over Columbus Day Weekend:

Saturday, October 11
Sunday, October 12
Monday, October 13

On these dates, you can purchase these items free of Virginia state sales tax:

Energy-efficient and water-efficient products purchased for noncommercial use and priced at $2,500 or less per item. Must be for noncommercial home or personal use. Qualifying Energy Star items include dishwashers, clothes washers, refrigerators, air conditioners, ceiling fans, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and dehumidifiers. Qualifying WaterSense items include bathroom sink faucets, faucet accessories, and toilets.
