Georgia Energy Star Appliance Sales Tax Holiday

Don’t miss this year’s Georgia Sales Tax Holiday when shopping for energy-efficient products and appliances. The Energy Star and WaterSense tax free weekend takes place for 3 days only:

On these dates, you can purchase these items free of Georgia state sales tax:

Energy-efficient and water-efficient products purchased for noncommercial use and priced at $1,500 or less per item. Tax exemption does not apply to purchases for trade, business, resale, or commercial use. Qualifying Energy Star items include air conditioners, ceiling fans, clothes washers, dehumidifiers, doors, fluorescent light bulbs, programmable thermostats, refrigerators, and windows. Qualifying WaterSense items include bathroom sink faucets, faucet accessories (aerators, etc.), high efficiency toilets/urinals, showerheads, and weather/sensor-based irrigation controllers.

Many stores will be having special sales on eligible items in conjunction with the sales tax holiday. The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Sears, Best Buy, Sam’s Club, Costco, and hhgregg are all good bets for tax free weekend sales and special appliance tax holiday promotions.

Energy Star products priced at $2,500 or less per item.

Power generators priced at $1,000 or less per item.

Hurricane preparedness products priced at $60 or less per item.

Clothing priced at $100 or less per article.

School supplies priced at $20 or less per purchase.

Special athletic or protective clothing or footwear, and accessories (jewelry, purses, luggage, umbrellas, wallets and watches) are excluded.

WASHINGTON 2016 SALES TAX HOLIDAY

Washington will not be having a sales tax holiday or tax free back-to-school weekend for 2016. All purchases made in July and August will be subject to the normal combined rate of Washington state and local sales tax.

Wyoming will not be having a sales tax holiday or tax free back-to-school weekend for 2016. All purchases made in July and August will be subject to the normal combined rate of Wyoming state and local sales tax.

Alabama Sales Tax Holiday

– Clothing priced at $100 or less per article. Excludes accessories and protective or recreational equipment.

– Computers, computer software, and school computer supplies priced at $750 or less per total purchase. Excludes purchases for commercial use.

– Noncommercial school supplies priced at $50 or less per item.

– Noncommercial books priced at $30 or less per item.

Many stores will be having special back to school sales on eligible items in conjunction with the sales tax holiday. – Clothing priced at less than $100 per article.

– Clothing accessories equipment priced at less than $50 per item.

– School supplies, school art supplies, and school instructional materials.
